Australia Sensing Win After Setting a Huge Total
Australian are on top after day four courtesy of the Compelling knock from Cameron Green
After gaining a decent first-innings lead of 94 runs Australia lost their openers cheaply. While Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith started the innings where they left off in the first innings. They looked to take control of the batting to make sure to extend the lead to an unassailable one. Labuschagne looked more aggressive in nature in the partnership. As he was striking the ball at a strike rate of 61.86. Steve Smith looked more circumspect in his approach.
Meanwhile, Labuschagne got out to a bowl that was away from him, he poked it and Saha managed to hold it. While Steve Smith was trapped by Ashwin at the score of 81. Thankfully they managed to stretch the lead above 300 at this point. It was the duty of the lower-middle order to make it even tougher for the visitors. After two quiet matches, Cameron Green finally showed his character by scoring commanding 84 runs. This inning was a really good example of what he can bring to the table for this Australian batting lineup. Captain Tim Pain also played well for his unbeaten 39 to give the young man good support to set a mammoth total for the Indian team.
In reply, Indian batting units started the innings with more intent than they did in the first innings. Both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were looking good until they got out. Likewise the first innings Josh Hazlewood provided the first breakthrough as he dismissed Gill at 31. Soon after that Rohit Sharma got out by Pat Cummins after scoring a well made fifty. Indian needed 309 from here on the 5th day and they had virtually 7 wickets remaining as Ravindra Jadeja ruled out from the test due to a broken finger. India needs to bring their a game if they want to get to anywhere close to the target or they want to draw
