India Fight Back to Draw The Sydney Test

Hanuma Vihari and Ashwin stand tall to draw the Sydney test

Australia set a daunting target of 408 for India to chase. The results of the third test proved again the old saying that cricket is a game of glorious uncertainty.

After losing both openers and all the injury concerns going around very few people would have given India a chance to save the game. However, the Indian cricket team has shown some great resistance as a team to draw the test match.

Rahane got out cheaply at the beginning of the day. While Pujara at the other end was rock solid. As the captain walks away Risabh Pant joins the party, he looked very aggressive in his approach and India was looking to win the game until Pant dismissal. He scored brilliant 97 runs off just 112 balls. Risabh Pant once again proves his worth as a batsman in the middle order. He needs to improve his wicket-keeping skills to seal his place in the team.

After the exit of Pant, Pujara was perished by Josh Hazlewood. As the top 5 batsmen back to the pavilion, India switched to their plan b to save the game. Australia does not look sharp as a fielding unit in the field which allowed the Indian team to execute the plan. Hanuma Bihari and R Aswin have negotiated together 250+ balls to initiate the draw. Ashwin has been a really big factor for the team in this series so far with both bat and ball. On the other hand, Hanuma Bihari was probably playing for his spot in the team. Both of them looked very confident in the partnership to block everything from the Aussie bowlers. India has turned around fantastically after being bowled out for 36 runs. The series has poised very well, now it is the final test that will determine the fate of the Border- Gavaskar Trophy.
